New IndyCar Season

IndyCar is finally back again, with the season opener held at St. Petersburg. This Sunday's race saw Ryan Briscoe as the winner, holding off a strong Ryan Hunter-Reay in second place. Briscoe, driving for Team Penske, passed Justin Wilson for the lead on a restart 14 laps from the end of the crash-filled Honda Grand Prix. The Aussie then stayed out front as Hunter-Reay, driving on the new softer alternate tires that provide more grip, also got past Wilson and tried to chase him down. Briscoe seemed very happy, when he finally completed this course after crashing out in his 2 previous attempts (last year and 2005). On a side note, if you're an IndyCar fan you'll soon be able to buy authentic IndyCar Hot Wheels products, because Mattel and the Indy Racing League have announced an exclusive four-year licensing partnership. The selection will include cars belonging to Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan and Dan Wheldon.

Sexy Bikini Jeans from Japan

Just when you thought clothes couldn't get any sexier and outrageous, someone comes along and disproves it. Japanese fashion label Sanna Brazil has done it this time and designed these bikini jeans. They combine an ultra-low cut blue jeans with an integrated string bikini bottom to create this very sexy look. I guess it's only a matter of time until we see those on pretty girls in the nightclubs and I am not complaining :-) If you'd like to give these so called "bijinis" a try and see what reactions you get, you can buy them for around $90.

Monsters vs Aliens

Dreamworks has hit the big screen again with this animated 3D feature film. It is a revival of the classic 50's alien B-movie. The story is pretty simple and goes like this: The main character Susan Murphy is hit by a meteor and turns into the giant Ginormica. The government doesn't like having monsters like her around on the streets and locks her up in a secret government facility along with other fellow monsters. However, when earth is attacked by mean aliens, which the military cannot defeat they turn to the monsters to help them. This film has been looked forward to by many people, but a lot of them feel let down a little bit by the too predictable story and mediocre screenplay. The one thing that seems to stand out, though, is the creative use of 3D in the IMAX version. Instead of making it a main feature of the movie, 3D is used to tell the story; especially to communicate a sense of scale between monsters, aliens and humans. All in all, it seems to be a pretty good film. Kids will be amused and adults will be entertained enough to not get bored.

Loose Weight With Miracle Fruit

Loosing weight can be a hard thing to do. Especially because a lot of the things you might have to eat to shed some pounds might not taste particularly good. But now there seems to be some help … by a miraculous fruit that has very aptly been named miracle fruit. If you chew on it, it will sweeten the taste of everything you eat for about 15 to 30 minutes. This means you can now sweeten your morning smoothie without adding any sugar or artificial sweeteners. And you can also bite in a lemon without pulling a face. This fruit could also help cancer patients to get their appetite back, as a lot of food starts tasting metallic and bland due to chemotherapy. Unfortunately, miracle fruit, which is grown in West Africa, seems to be very hard to come by, but hopefully it'll get easier in time.

Komodo Dragons Kill Indonesian Fisherman

Well guess what ... I've just found a good reason not to hike in remote places. I just read that komodo dragons killed a fisherman in Indonesia. The poor guy was mauled while looking for sugar apples and then bled to death on his way to hospital. I never thought that these animals could be that dangerous, especially because they look rather slow. How wrong could I be? According to CNN these beasts can grow up to 3 meters and still leap at you as fast as a dog. As if this wasn't enough, their bite is also toxic enough to kill animals as big as buffalos. Although these incidents seem to be rare, this is not the only one. According to CNN, last month a park ranger wasn't too happy finding a Komodo eating away at his hand and foot and in 2007 a young boy died from an attack.
